EVER WONDERED WHAT ARE
HOMING PIGEONS?
Homing Pigeons are a highly specialized breed of domesticated pigeon,
that has been selectively bred for their truly remarkable ability to find their
way home from unfamiliar territory and fly at rapid speeds over vast distances.
This innate ability to navigate unfamiliar areas and do it while flying at
top speeds of over 100km per hour makes the Homing.
FROM THE CHAIRMAN'S DESK
It gives me great pleasure to welcome all pigeon fanciers to the dawn of the 2026 racing season. All of us are very busy with the training of our pigeons and have many winners in our lofts. It is the prayer of the FBHU executive that all of you have an enjoyable 2026 season.
We are pleased to welcome our 14th Union – Cape Provincial Homing Union – after a lengthy dormant period and hope you are as excited as we are to have you racing with us this year.
To all those involved with the administrative work of your respective unions we would like to applaud you for your passion and dedication to ensure that our members receive a quality administration.
The FBHU has seen a resurgence in it’s membership totals for 2026 and are pleased to see our membership exceeding the 600-member mark; proof that the Federated Board of Homing Unions remains the preferred choice of Organization in the Western Cape for the Pigeon Racing community.
The FBHU have once again managed to be the most affordable pigeon racing organization in the country thanks, in part, to the joint efforts of the treasury body, Fincom and support from our Union treasurers.
Wishing everyone a joyful and successful 2026 racing season in the Biggest Pigeon Organisation in Africa.
