TRIBUTES

Mr Hoosain Bey 24 December 1942 – 09 July 2024

“Since the age of 8 Seinie, as he was called, was involved with his dad, Goolam Bey. One of the pioneers of the Federated Board of Homing Unions, Goolam was one of the gentlemen involved who put up the family home as collateral to purchase the first truck for the FBHU. From the age of 12, Seinie became secretary of Claremont Pigeon Racing Club and when he turned 16 became their race secretary and worked out the times of the club. He started off many young pigeon fanciers with birds and was passionate about sharing his knowledge with al and sundry. He was very progressive and defended the FBHU against all those who tried to run it down. I was fortunate enough to meet Seinie in 1973 and he introduced me to the sport of pigeon racing. A truly humble gentleman who will be sorely missed.

"May the Almighty grant him the highest place in Jannah.”

Riyaadh Najaar, Chairman FBHU

The FBHU will be dedicating this weekend’s first Board race, Britstown, in honour of Mr Hoosain “Seinie” Bey. “When one pillar falls, the others share the weight of his burden, until he can rise again…”
