On the 2nd of November, 2024, the Federated Board of Homing Unions proudly held their annual Bust up to cap off a spectacular year of pigeon racing.

The venue, Pniel Cricket club, played host the very very best fanciers in and around the Western Cape. Amazing food, live entertainment and a steller MC, was the order of the day.

Mr Irfaan Leukes oversaw the task of Master of ceremonies and introduced the guest speakers on the day before our beloved Chairman, Mr Riyaad Najaar, took over with a few words regarding the Board's achievements, challenges and what to expect for 2025.

The Juniors received their trophies first, highlighting the importance of our sport's future and also showcased the impeccable talents and commitment of these young fanciers.

Truck results and trophies followed suit before the starters were handed out allowing members and their families the opportunity to eat and converse before the coveted Board trophies were handed out.

The Federated Board was proud to announce the top 9 fanciers and lofts in the Board before crowing our FBHU Champion for 2024, Mr Karl Schwormstedt, who was greeted by a guard of honor consisting of (no less than) our Juniors. A passing of the guard, perhaps, from the first presented Junior trophy winners to the overall Board Champion. Congratulations, Mr Schwormstedt, on this outstanding achievement.

To all our Truck, Board, Junior, CAR, Ace pigeon and runner up Ace bird winners; both you, your birds and those who support you deserve all the recognition for a challenging but worthwhile year of Pigeon racing. Once quoted by Jell Jellema as being a "365 day commitment to excellence in the sport of pigeon racing", you all have exemplified this and your achievements are testament to it. To those who came close to joining these boys, men, women and girls, perhaps a reminder of the achievements still to be attained in 2025, to those who are still to win; a challenge to reach new heights in the upcoming season. Whatever your reasoning may be, when the time arrives and you collect your trophy, savor it... but remember this, the true race is won when we see that first bird on the horizon and even more so when he or she crosses the finish line and is finally "Home"...

May 2025 be your best season yet...
